Terrarium No. 1

Made a Start on my Personal Choice sketchbook. Leading on from the last post, I think I'm going to try some terrarium shapes and see what happens. So that's 3 book on the go now so I have no excuse for being bored of one and doing nowt.

Personal Choice

I have to start considering what I want to do for my two personal choice sketchbooks. Coming from textiles, interiors still hold a lot of interest for me and recently I have seen the terrarium trend a lot, especially geometric glass vases. I feel that this is some thing that I may want to explore... I have tried it before and really enjoyed adding some quirkyness to it.

I think I'll begin to explore the shapes that I could use with doing this and potentially use this as an idea for one of my sketchbooks... the other is yet to be decided.

Landscape update

Popped to Seaton Beach the other day and got some drawing done. I actually really enjoy the wishy washy effect that the water colours give me.

Keep on keeping on

Trying to mix my medias up a bit in response to the research I have been doing. Kinda hard to begin using colour but I am liking it, and it will probably get easier with time.

Jamie Mitchell

This illustration by Jamie Mitchell is absolutely lovely. I really like the way he has mixed together two medias, this kind of style will be something I will look to explore throughout this summer.
His illustrations are also feature on Oh Deer. A really cool website that is a good platform for artists to either get their work seen or used by the company.

More stags

Really enjoying working in this style, with ink and quill. In coming weeks I'll work towards really trying to add my detail into the illustrations, as these are just loose sketches to help me get a feel for the shapes i'm creating.

With the next drawing I used my left hand and was actually surprised with the outcome. I'll probably employ this method within my other sketchbooks.

Animals

Although my landscape sketch book is ongoing, I've decided to start my secondary research animals one. just so I'm not getting stuck in a rut doing on thing constantly. Now, I've never really drawn animals before so I'm sort of struggling but I am enjoying doing something new. I'm just trying to get the basic shapes down at the minute before i start to put my own twist on the drawings.
